TREES
Trees are the most common element of an elaborately decorated landscape. They form the central part of any landscape since their presence in a garden has both decorative and utility value. Besides providing shade, trees can aid in protecting your garden by keeping a check over soil erosion. The most extensively-used trees for landscaping plans are deciduous trees, weeping ornamental trees and fall foliage trees. EVERGREENS Evergreens preserve their foliage all year round and occupy an exceptional place in any landscaping venture. In addition to making the garden beautiful, evergreens are also known to bring a sense of completeness to the overall landscape. Some popular evergreens that are often seen in many ‘designer’ gardens are firs, arborvitae, hemlocks, yews, junipers, pines, and spruce.
SHRUBS
These little plants can be used to give a well manicured and a classy look to the garden. The shrubs, bushes, and hedges are woody plants that do not grow more than a height of six meters from the ground. These plants can be shaped as per the garden themes and can even be used as a part of the theme. For example, you can shape a line of bushes to resemble a mountain range. The shrubs have numerous stems beginning from the base that spread out from the plant. As a result, they have a short and wide look. Some popular forms of bushes are Adam’s needle, butterfly bush, burning bush, boxwood, alpine currant, bluebeards, barberries, etc.
ANNUALS AND PERENNIALS
These are plants that bloom throughout the year, making a garden look complete and pleasant. Annuals and perennials are plants that are generally small in size and complete their life in a single cycle. Perennials have a lifecycle of approximately one year, but go on to thrive year after year due to seed germination. Therefore, planting perennials in your garden is a wise idea as they will continue to bloom all year round thus making your garden look beautiful. If too many seasonal plants are included, the garden will appear dull and lifeless during non- flowering seasons of the year.
