You're in your front yard!I do have to admit I dug the field,which is my backyard,but it had been hit pretty good before me...of course.I still found nice stuff. i.e. breast plate, sabor belt plate, napsack hook/buttons/etc. bullets and buttons. But not 10 FEET FROM THE HOUSE! I cant see how you wouldn't hit a plate with the way to "axe" the ground! I've seen plate cut clean in half like that! Well, good luck. Civil war emplacements are so common that there is practically no place you can walk back in the woods and not find a trench of some kind. Digging in them however will land you in jail for quite some time. I was at the park one day and went to piss back in the woods and came across what looked to be a cannon emplacement the way it was shaped and the depth of it.
