It costs $65 to get a permit for a fence, but I just want to have a raised garden type border around my yard. (like two feet high) I have a corner lot in the neighborhood, and heavy foot traffic from passers-by causes some unwanted wear in my lawn. I worry that a ground level border would get trampled!
I would like to just establish some borders around my yard and make it “less boring” thanks in advance.

I think if its a removable and free standing with out posts to anchor it to the ground it wouldnt be consider a fence. Plus if it causes problems you just pick it up and move it elsewhere. Just keep each one a managable size…perhaps hidden wheels under the bottom rim.

If you want to find out for sure, call the property evaluator (or whoever imposes the fee), and ask them. I’m sure they have guidelines on what classifies as a fence.
