Weeds are those plants that grow in places where they are not wanted, typically near well-watered plants. They become competing members and deprive other plants of their space, sunlight and water requirements.
The following methods are good at dealing with weeds:
DRIP IRRIGATION
Weeds can be controlled by using drip irrigation facility as well. Drip irrigation is a systematic procedure of watering the plants using slow water pressure. The water is provided directly to the roots of the plants thus ensuring that most of the soil surface remains dry. Since the soil surface is dry, the chances of new plants growing up on their own become minimal and hence, in comparison to a sprinkle irrigation system, the chances of the garden being invaded by weeds are less.
SOIL SOLARIZATION
You may even control weeds using soil solarization. Soil Solarization is the practice of killing the unwanted weeds by decontaminating and warming the soil by the use of UV stabilized plastic. To put this in appropriate words, soil solarization is a methodical process of warming up the soil to eliminate weeds along with their germinating seeds. The process starts with prepping up the soil for planting. The next step is tilling and finally, layers of UV stabilized plastic are layered over the soil. The soil is left covered in this manner for four to eight weeks during the hot summer days after which the plastic layers are removed. Though solarization can efficiently control weeds and soil fungi, the extent to which this process is successful depends on various factors like the nature of soil, duration of the solarization process and the nature of weeds.
